LOOBA Circularity

Limited enquiries

Operators of battery-passport systems.

LOOBA’s base product is EPR financial and operational assurance. The electronic battery record is a separate layer. Where a producer already has a host, we couple on the unique identifier. Where they do not, passport operations can sit as an option on the EPR contract.

Coupling

One join key. Not a connector per host.

The unique identifier is the link. We do not integrate host by host. Article 77 requires that identifier behind the QR code. It is how an EPR reserve, a treatment event and a second-life record stay attached to the same battery. LOOBA does not maintain a bespoke integration for each software host. Hosts that can present the identifier, and accept machine-readable events against it, can couple.

The identifier

The economic operator’s unique identifier is the join between LOOBA’s registration and the electronic record. Batch or pool identifiers are used where the regulation allows grouping.

Events LOOBA can pass

End-of-life treatment under LOOBA is the point at which the passport ceases after recycling. After preparation for re-use, repurposing or remanufacturing, a new record is required, linked to the original.

Open format

Article 78 requires interoperability and open standards. Coupling is on that basis — not on a private API of any one host.

How many hosts

A short list of specialised operators. Not a long tail of connectors.

The battery-passport software market is concentrated. A handful of applications are certified in the main automotive data space; a similar number of independent hosts serve cells, packs, industrial batteries and BESS outside that space. That is a small professional set — not dozens of equivalent platforms that each need their own LOOBA connector.

LOOBA therefore stays identifier-agnostic. We will discuss coupling with operators who already serve LOOBA counterparties, or who can host the optional operations module under the producer’s written authorisation. We will not build or brand a competing passport platform.

Two product layers

EPR is the base. Passport operations are optional.

Base — EPR participation

Registration, Swiss-secured compensation, recycler appointment and replacement. Records are held against the same identifier the producer already uses for the battery passport. LOOBA is not the issuing authority.

Option — passport operations

For producers without a host: identifier attribution support, QR linkage, register upload, access layers and lifecycle updates, under written authorisation from the economic operator placing the battery on the market. Delivered with a specialised operator, not as LOOBA’s core system.

This audience is subordinate. Producer, recycler-operator and BESS coverage come first. Battery passport under Article 77 · For producers
